Lippie

Hi there mommies! Today is about LIPPIE day. I will share what lipsticks or lip gloss I have in my makeup kit.

What's inside my bag?

First is my all time favorite BUXOM lip gloss. I literally cannot buy this because it is NOT AVAILABLE in the Philippines. So what I always do is I wait for my Aunt Mitch to buy this for me as a present. Haha! Yeah.. I know what you are thinking. Well, if someone will give you something as amazing as Buxom lip gloss, wouldn’t you use it too?

Photo taken by me, of course, these are mine. haha
Thanks Tita Mitch / Inday for my Buxom lip gloss!

Why do I like this? I like this because the scent is so inviting. It smells like chocolate especially the DOLLY shade. When you apply it on your lips, it may sound weird but it is so minty. It makes your lips extra pouty after a few seconds of applying it. It DOES NOT give me any itch! So, thanks to this lip gloss I can now have a sexy lip in shiny finish.

When did I start using this? I started using this about 2 or 3 years ago. Would I recommend this for allergic prone skin? Yes! Definitely! Because it did not give me allergic reactions so it would possibly work out for you out there too.

How much? I really do not have a clue until I started this article because those were given to me only. It may cost $20 each. That’s Php820 if you are going to convert it into peso at Php41 each dollar. The price is based on buxomcosmetics.com. Wow!

Second is time to share my all time favorite REVLON lipstick which I have been using for 3-4 years now. Well, I do not know what’s up with the REVLON products in some malls here in our town. They give me itch but when my Aunt Menchie bought some for me, I tried it and it did not give me any itch at all. So my favorite is REVLON straight from the US which is 030 Pink Pearl Shade. I use it for daily use.

Photo taken by me, of course, these are mine. haha
Thanks Tita Menchie for the gifts.

Why do I like this? I like this particular color of Revlon because I can use it daily. It does not give me itch. It does not leave black stains on my lips because some Revlon products in our town give me black stains. But this one does not. No itch at all. It’s simple looking. This belongs to Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick collection. Again, I did not buy this here. I just got this from my Aunt because I cannot afford it and I cannot find this shade here in our city.

Price? Basically, I just browsed revlon.com and I cannot find the price. But from amazon it is $6, from CVS pharmacy it is $8.99 and from walmart it is $4.97. So the price in the Philippines if converted must range from Php 203.77 up to Php 368.59. Not bad! But mall price in our city is 150-200 pesos more expensive. Probably because of the shipping fee and all. I don’t know. I don’t work there. I don’t own the mall. Haha! But I love this Pink Pearl shade.

Third to share is my favorite Mary Kay Exotic Mango which I also use as daily use. It is long wearing. At first, I was only using the samplers because I really cannot afford to buy one. But when I was winning challenges from Mary Kay as a consultant, I get FREEBIES. I love FREEBIES. Who doesn’t anyway. It costs Php 860. But this February 22 -29, they are on SALE! 20% lesser on the original price. Ain’t that fabulous!?

Exotic Mango of Mary Kay
Photo: NOT MINE. Taken from the net. This is more clear than my capture.

Why do I like this? I don’t like it. I LOVE EXOTIC MANGO because it is long wearing compared with some other sheer products I used before. I like the smell. It’s not too sweet and it’s not too cosmetic-smelling. It does not give me allergy or makes me sneeze.

Fourth and last, my all time favorite RED Crème lipstick of Mary Kay. I wear red because I do not look good with any pink shade! Too bad. I know. The face I have is not sweet looking that’s why I cannot go with pink so I opted for RED. And this bloody vampire red is the red I love to wear. It is timely. I cannot just go wrong with this. It’s only Php 700.

So these are my Mary Kay favorites:
Red Rouge and Exotic Mango.
And these are my photos and lipsticks.
And that's my portfolio on the background. Haha!

Why do I love this? First, it does not give me allergies. Second, it is long lasting. I only apply once a day and it lasts up to 7-8 hours. If I do retouch and try to remove it at night, good luck for when I wake up the next day, it’s still there! How practical! Third, my customers who bought this RED shade are so happy that they want to order more products from me. They call this “TIPID na LIPSTICK”. Yes, it is TIPID because I had been using this lipstick since last year and it is already February and I still have a lot. Fourth, it looks sexy and does not mess up. Fifth, it does not smell awful!

Remember: COST and WORTH are two different things. There are cheap items but for allergic-prone skin people like me, are you willing to sacrifice your health for cheaper items? Think about it. Medicines are more expensive than these products.

So, I hope you enjoyed reading my article which is full of FREEBIES! Thanks to my Aunt Mitch, Aunt Menchie and Mary Kay, I do not have to buy lipsticks anymore. Haha! But of course, I cannot ask from them all the time, they too have families and priorities. Thanks to my Aunts, I get to experience using these lovely items. Thanks to Mary Kay for my freebies as well. That’s the reason why I always want to reach my quota because the rewards are great!

Quality over Quantity

Quality over Quantity

In a very timely manner, I have to discuss this very significant thing about “Quality over Quantity”. I just had my RJDD training (in lieu of Mary Kay’s ESTB Training) for me to proceed with RJU or the Red Jacket University training yesterday. There were two speakers who possess two different characters. One of which was Miss Angelie, a very beautiful and energetic mentor of Mary Kay who discussed the first 4 sessions of the whole training and the second speaker Maam Maria Dolores, a very lovely teacher; who by the way doesn’t look old. Both of them were amazing in giving their profound ideas about cosmetics, people, product knowledge and team building. But both of them are way too different from each other. According to one of those trainees who also attended “one is sophisticated and one is simple yet with brutal force in selling techniques.” I salute the Mary Kay team Davao for placing two different people on the same seminar. It has allowed me to widen my horizon when it comes to thinking about products simply because both of them have wonderful point of views. But I am very much in awe when both of them in separate manner taught me “QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.”

From online photo

Is Mary Kay expensive? Both of them asked the trainees. Most of the trainees answered “Well, the clients would tell.” Well, the speakers reiterated the virtue of QUALITY OVER QUANTITY and then the speakers said “NO. It is not expensive.”

Photo from online

Miss Angelie said “It is not expensive.” Then she named more expensive products than that of Mary Kay which I believe others really use, to some point, they use the imitation products. Users of some imitation products do not know the high risk and severity of skin damage after using the products like more led content and all that for a lipstick. But consumers buy them because of the name regardless the thought of the imitating the products.

Miss Maria Dolores said “Di baling ka isa ra sa atoang kinabuhi maka gamit tag mahalun pero sulit man.”

Wear the Mary Kay image. It is not expensive!
It's how you carry yourself that makes you look fab and lovely!

On my first point of view, I have listed some products and noted the price of some pressed powder. Mary Kay’s On The Go mineral powder costs Php 699. But you can absolutely use it for 7 to 8 months if you are not really into powder. The secret key is that, it is mineral so it lasts longer. No need for you to buy and buy and buy. It will cost you Php about 3.34 pesos a day for 7 or 8 months.
However, when you buy 300 pressed powder and the advertisements tell you to use more and more until you buy more and buy more. It is a company strategy on telling you to use more and buy more just to cover up their products’ lapses. Their products cannot possibly contain the longevity that is why you have to put more and buy more. You put more – they cannot promise longevity. You buy more – they earn more, you on the other hand got broke. You will only realize that when you compute 300 pesos for 2 or 3 months. That is likely Php5 a day for 2 months.

Now, which is more practical? The Php5 a day or Php3.34 a day?

"AGE is only a state of mind."
Yes, we are moms. We are both professional and licensed in our professions.
But we took the challenge to age gracefully.
With my Ate Yuri during the training.

On my second point of view, Mary Kay has been helping women. It has lived by its virtue “ONE WOMAN CAN.” Only during the trainings did I learn that ONE WOMAN REALLY CAN! It means, regardless your status in life, you can! It does not prejudge you if you are a woman who works in a salon or parlor, if you are still a student, if you are a housewife, if you did not graduate in college or if you are a battered wife. The company does not care about your background. It cares about how you use your background and do something about it, right now!

A lot of my friends who are already registered nurses and teachers still sell Mary Kay. Why? The question is always “What? Why? You are already well paid off by the government or by your job.” And they would say “No. Mary Kay has helped us more.” Which I believe and I experienced is true. Most of them would answer “Quality jud ang Mary Kay. Lahi ra jud. The longer you use it, the more it helps your skin look younger.” Aren’t we talking about quality now?

On my third point of view, when you see branded shoes like VANS, SKECHERS and a lot more like GUCCI, you immediately save and buy that. Most of the time, you don’t think, you just buy it. Gosh! HAHAHA! Those are really good shoes, good design and good quality. I personally like branded shoes especially those proven and tested which could serve me at least 3 -5 years like GIBI and CELINE Philippines Shoes. I have like 3 pairs of each, that’s one formal, one classy, one on the go kinda thing. But those served me well for 3-5 years each. If I bought one of those pairs for a thousand, that’s a thousand divided by 5 years, the answer is NOT EVEN A CENTAVO, I bet!  Whereas, if you buy a shoe worth Php 250 then after a month or 3 weeks, it’s ruined and you have to buy again and it’s a cycle for a year. That is way too expensive. That’s how they have discussed Mary Kay as well! Which in my belief is a practical way to save money.

ONE WOMAN CAN!

On my fourth and last point of view, goodness! You are one tough woman who carried kids inside your womb for 9 months each child, took care of them or that woman who sent their siblings to school and yet some of them do not even study well with red failing grades and yet you push because you are the “Ulirang Ate”.. Aren’t you worthy of anything amazing like Mary Kay!? Stop the drama and go get that Mary Kay product you like! Go give yourself a little reward! YOU DESERVE IT! At least before you die, you have enjoyed one thing you like!

Your AGE is your business... How you LOOK..is OURS!

Go girl and buy that product you like, be it Lancome, Loreal, Mary Kay, buy it!

That’s what they taught me yesterday!
