With support from this article: http://www.artjunction.org/young_scribbling.php, it says usually scribbling happens to
children ages 1 year old and a half. However Kurt (my son) started scribbling
last August 2012 and that makes him 1 year and 4 months to this. I don’t know
if I’m going to be happy for his advance motor skills development or not but I’ll just be thankful that he is normal and he’s doing
fine.
Scribbling is about drawing and writing. It is a form of child art. Normally this happens
before symbolism (when kids draw something which represents a face, hand,
animal or house) and other forms of child art.
(Please be informed that this photo was taken August of 2012 and I was not aware he could already do the scribbling. I just thought of giving the pen as an experiment. However, please take note that his next art work, ballpens were not included anymore or any sharp objects as this might hurt him or your kids. Friendly reminder.)
CAP for teachers
(like me); Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor Development. When kids do
scribbling, they enhance a certain skill and that is Psychomotor. They use
their hands and move it up and down, or move it into a circular motion. They
make lines and mostly irregular shapes. We often do not understand what those
things are. Never discourage them. They may eat the things they are using for
writing and drawing, however, parents could be there to assist.
As parents or
teachers, all we have to do is support them in this kind of play. They consider
this as a form of play because they enjoy leaving marks with your precious
tables and floors. This is the start of their love for ART. They can express
themselves through scribbling.
Please take note that, whenever these little angels start to write, your plain and boring walls will automatically become the blank canvass and they will put abstract designs.

Who knows, your child might be the next Juan Luna who painted the Spolarium (Philippine Artist) or Fernando Amorsolo (Philippine Artist) or the great painter of Mona Lisa who was Leonardo da Vinci and a lot more...
So... let's scribble and have some fun!
