I'm sharing some of the activities that my son and I did for his journey as a one year old baby boy. You might like to do it with your kids. Have fun!
MUSIC ACTIVITY for my one
year old son.. This is Kurt's first music set. He has 1 pair of maracas and a
mini xylophone. He could be a music lover or even a musician or maybe he
won't... but at least, he tried to play something during his childhood days.. (Music
plays a big role in a child's life. I always believe that Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart & Ludwig Van Beethoven's Music contribute to the development of a
baby's mind.. It develops the 2 M's.. Music and Mathematics -à Development of good logical thinking and
reasoning..)
You could also try listening to their music (Mozart & Beethoven's) when you're still pregnant. Or try playing their music while your baby is playing.
calling it .. "Push
and Pull activity"
By its name Push
and Pull, you will need a simple toy like this one on the picture. A one year
old kid will try to push and pull his toy. He will learn how to do simple push
and pull... He will learn how to fix the toy and put it back on track if the toy
falls.. Plus there is also a possibility that the child will learn how to
follow a straight line just by simply giving him this one. That's where cutting straight
lines for papers would start. I was not able to develop following straight
lines (eye & hand coordination) that's why in my art work, I always use
CURVE and zigzag patterns for my students. And as a teacher who couldn't
produce a straight line, that sucks! I would definitely love to teach my son
about this simple thing so he won't have a hard time when he grows up.. So, I
guess that's it for push and pull activity.. Plus, this will help him enhance his psychomotor skills.
The last two pictures here were taken outside. Nothing beats the LITTLE EXPLORER ACTIVITY. It's really nice to let kids get out of the house and let them explore things which could not be seen inside house premises. Just let them do whatever they want (except for letting them eat soil and mud). Holding objects like stones, pots, plants and a lot more will help them enhance their sense of touch, that's familiarizing soft, hard, smooth or rough things. And as a mom who grew up in the 90's, I would rather see my son play with real objects than see him indulge himself with computer and not knowing he's loosing contact with the real world where real people live and use real objects.
Have fun mommies! Let me read your thoughts. Don't forget to visit my profile and you could find other ideas about kids there!
Thank you and have a nice day!
